Ragas started its operations in Melbourne in 2008 under the wings of Bhaatkhande Sangit Vidyalaya. Ragas aim is to spread Indian classical music in a foreign land. It’s currently run by Pooja Gupta. She is B (Music) in Hindustani Classical Vocal Music and a Diploma holder in Kathak Dance. She is an empanelled ICCR artiste & has given several performances in Delhi. After teaching many years in Delhi at Bhaatkhande Sangit Vidyalaya, Pooja has now moved to Melbourne. Ragas is an extension of her passion and a genuine effort of Bhaatkhande Sangit Vidyalaya.
Ragas conducts its classes on weekday evenings and weekend mornings. Both individual and group classes are available. The classes aim at teaching students good foundation in the art form. All the students are taught the same curriculum as at Bhaatkhande Sangit Vidyalaya. Like Bhaatkhande, Ragas caters to all age group, starting from 3 yrs old.
We are happy that so far Ragas has been warmly welcomed in Melbourne & a diverse student base has been established in Melbourne. We look forward to keep striving and achieving the noble cause of spreading Indian Classical music all over the world!
